A

    Agricultural Fence

Agricultural Fence, also known as farm fence, is a term that describes a wide range of fence types that are used to keep animals in designated areas.

These may include fence types such as ranch rail, post and rail, chicken wire, barbed wire fence, netting or other types of fence.

Agricultural fences may also sometimes be installed to keep predators or other animals out of a particular area – for instance to keep coyotes out of a farmyard, or to prevent deer from nibbling on crops.

We supply a wide variety of agricultural fences to meet most requirements, so feel free to let us know what you need.

    Aluminum

Aluminum is sometimes used to construct fence systems and gates. Usually, the type of aluminum used is T6061 or T6063, which are harder, tougher alloys than pure aluminum, but this can vary according to specification.

Ornamental fence systems are sometimes available in color coated aluminum, and we’ve also manufactured custom aluminum framed cantilever gates in the past. We also stock a range of aluminum fittings, which are primarily used for residential fences.

Our factory is equipped to weld aluminum gates and panels, so if you do require any custom aluminum fence or gate components, we can provide you with a quote to manufacture them.

    Asymetrical Gate

Asymmetrical Gate, one of the least common types of gates requested (but one that we can certainly supply and install) is the asymmetrical double swing gate.

In a nutshell, this type of gate is a double swing gate where the two leaves are different widths.

There are several reasons why someone may require a gate to be manufactured this way, but most relate to space constraints. If you have an opening where there’s limited ‘swinging’ room on one side but unrestricted space on the other side, it may make sense to use this type of gate.

If you do have a unique situation that requires a custom gate solution, feel free to contact our sales department. They’re always happy to offer advice and pricing for a custom manufactured gate.

    Automated Gate

Automated Gate, relates to gates that have been fitted with a gate operator or gate motor, and that work using electrical current and electronic circuitry.

We can automate sliding, cantilever, swing, pivot and boom gates.

B

    Backstop Fences

Backstop Fences, there are several different standards for baseball backstop fences in Canada, which vary slightly according to the type of field (peewee, softball, baseball etc.) as well as municipal or city specifications.

Rite-Way Fencing has installed several different types of backstop fences over the years, for customers all over Western Canada, and we can provide a free quote on any backstop fence you may require.

    Ball Diamond Fences

Ball Diamond Fences, there’s a lot of fencing that goes into a baseball diamond!

Usually, there are 8′ high sections of fence that run from the backstop to around the dugout area, and sometimes fence around the dugout itself.

Then there’s the foul line fences, which are usually about 5′ high with double maintenance gates, and then there’s the curved grass line fence that makes up the back of the ball diamond fence.

Rite-Way Fencing can supply and install ball diamond fence to your specifications, no matter which sections you need installed, so why not contact us for a free quote?

    Barb Arms

Barb Arms are fittings that are used in lieu of eye tops on line posts or dome caps on corner, gate or end posts to extend the height of the fence, and to carry barbed wire.

Usually, barbed arms are pre notched to hold three strands of barbed wire, but sometimes two are used, or in the case of double barb arms, to carry a total of six strands.

Our barb arms are usually manufactured from pressed steel in on piece for added security (they become an integral part of the fence when installed) or cast iron for corner posts, but other options may be available on request.

    Barb Wire

Barb Wire consists of either a double or single strand that acts as the ‘core’, with twisted and sharpened barbed spaced at regular intervals along the core wire.

There are several kinds of barbed wire in Canada, but the Canadian standard is the most common. Rite-Way Fencing stocks Canadian Standard galvanized barbed wire all the time, but we can also supply and install other types on request.

When buying barbed wire, remember that there is a quarter of a mile, or 1320′ on each roll, and calculate accordingly. Or let us do the calculations for you!

    Barn Track Gates

Barn Track Gates are gates that are top hung, using either standard barn track fittings, or heavier duty fittings if required.

The system consists of gate hangers (with wheels) which are fitted to the top of a custom manufactured gate, a U channel track and track fixing brackets. We also construct custom floor guides to ensure that the bottom of the gate stays in position when open and closed.

Unlike other types of internal track system, barn track systems are usually installed with the U channel track fixed to the fence above the gate – which means that they might not be suitable for installations where unrestricted vertical access is required to the gate opening.

If you need a barn track gate, or any other type of sliding gate, be sure to contact your Rite-Way Fencing representative for information and pricing.

    Base Plates

Base plates, sometimes also called baseplates, are galvanized flat metal plates with pre drilled holes, that are welded to the bottom of fence posts to allow them to be bolted to existing concrete surfaces.

Base plates are usually welded for horizontal intallation, but they can be side mounted, where fences must be installed alongside a vertical concrete structure, and there is not enough room for installation on top of the structure.

    Bear Mats

Bear Mats are special high quality, extra tough rubber mats with conductors built into them that are used under gate openings in bear fence, to ensure that bears cannot access a site. The bear mat is installed under the gate, and the conductor wires from each adjacent section of fence are connected, which allows the current from the fence to pass through the mats, and electrify the conductors.

Bear mats are safe to drive over and walk over (wearing rubber soled shoes!) and they are designed to stand up to the elements and to a lot of punishment from vehicles and other traffic.

The alternative to bear mats is to install an electrical grid on the gate itself, however, this is only effective when the gate is closed, and it can be a complex and costly procedure.

    Bollards

Bollards are steel pipes that are planted in concrete, filled with concrete, and then either painted safety yellow or covered with a pre formed plastic bollard cover.

Rite-Way Fencing supplies and installs a variety of types of bollards, including baseplate bollards for installation inside buildings (for example in a parking garage), crash rated bollards and ultra shallow mount bollards. We also supply high quality, easy to install bollard covers.

    Bottom Lock Slats

Bottom Lock Slats, there are many types of slats available for chain link fence. Typically, we use and supply what is known as bottom lock slats.

As the name suggests, this type of slats (unlike others) slides into the openings of chain link fence, and locks into a rigid bottom channel.

The bottom channel is one of the reasons why we prefer these slats. For one thing, it makes it easy to lock the slats in place, and for another, having a solid bottom component makes it virtually impossible for slats to slide down, sag or start to look shabby.

We usually stock black and white bottom link slats in a variety of heights, and they are easy to self install in an existing fence.

    Bottom Rail

Bottom Rail is a horizontal rail, similar to a top rail, that is installed on fences where additional bracing or security is required.

Usually, fences that have bottom rails will be installed on higher security sites, or on specialist fences.

Bottom rails are usually the same diameter and type of pipe as top rails, and they are attached to tension posts using rail ends and brace bands as per top rails. They are usually attached to line posts using boulevard clamps.

Bottom rail installation can add a little to your price, but if security is important, we can always provide an optional rate to add this feature to your fence.

    Boulevard Clamp

A Boulevard Clamp is a fitting that allows us to connect bottom and mid rails to line posts on a chain link fence. Boulevard clamps can be ‘line’ or ‘end’ and they are made in two parts, so that they can clamp horizontal rails and fasten around posts.

    Brace bands

Brace bands are preformed steel fittings that slip around terminal and gate posts, and attach to rail ends using carriage bolts. This allows us to attach top rails to tension posts, which provides a sturdy and robust structure for the installation of chain link fabric.

    Brace Bands

Brace Bands are preformed galvanized fittings that are used to attach braces and top rails to tension and line posts. They are also used to attach barbed wire to straight extensions on tension posts for barbed wire topped fences.

    Budget price

A budget price for fencing is a ballpark figure for the supply and installation of a specific fence type, based on basic information, and without viewing the installation site.

Budget prices are usually not binding, and are intended only to provide an indication of the possible costs related to a project.

C

    CAN/GGSB

CAN/CGSB-138 is a Canadian standard for industrial chain link, CAN/CGSB-138 is the code for a group of standards related to the supply and installation of chain link fence in Canada. These four standards – which cover structure, fabric, gates and installation – are considered to be guidelines for the installation of fence in Canada, but they are not mandatory. Fence standards in Canada often contain references to standard specifications like CAN/CGSB-138, ASTM, CSA standards and other specifications, along with project specific requirements. It’s worth remembering that when you ask for a ‘standard fence’ – there isn’t really one!

    Cane Bolt

Cane Bolts, also known as drop bolts, are pre bent rods that are installed along with steel guides, on the center edge of double swing gates.

Cane bolts are used to hold the gate leaves in place when the gate is open or closed, when they are dropped down into a gate keep (which is, in it’s simplest form) a piece of pipe cast into concrete.

Rite-Way Fencing supplies and installs drop bolts for chain link, vinyl, ornamental and other types of gates.

    Cantilever gates

Cantilever gates, also known as sliding gates, are a kind of gate that slides on sets of rollers attached to the gate posts. They can be manufactured to match various fence types, including chain link and ornamental, and they are well suited to installations where ice and snow would make a ground installed track unfeasible.

The name cantilever comes from the "tail" or "trailer", which is a section of gate approximately half the width of the gate opening that acts as a counterbalance to keep the gates steady and stable.

Cantilever gates can be double or single.

    Cantilever Gates

Cantilever Gates are a type of sliding gate, as the name suggests, are hung with a ‘cantilever’ or counter balance, to ensure that the gate remains above the ground a sufficient distance, even when there is snow on the ground.

Cantilever gates make use of two sliding posts, each with a set of nylon or steel rollers, to provide a stable ‘pivot point’ on which the gate can slide. These rollers are available in various sizes, which are chosen based on the size and weight of the gate.

Cantilever type sliding gates can be installed either as single or double, and they can be automated by installing a gate operator.

The one big consideration that needs to be made when choosing to install a cantilever gate is whether there is enough room on the side that the gate will open to to allow for a gate that will be more than one and a half times the size of the opening to slide open.

Cantilever gates are available for most fence types, and your Rite-Way Fencing representative can provide more information and a free quote.

    Cantilever Roller

Cantilever Rollers are special types of gate wheels that are installed onto cantilever gate posts, and which carry and guide the top and bottom rails of the gate.

Because these types of wheels are integral to the function of the gate, and because they have to be strong and hard wearing, they’re made of heavy duty nylon and steel, and designed to stand up to the elements.

Cantilever rollers are manufactured with a variety of fittings, to fit 3 1/2″, 4 1/2″ and 6 5/8″ gate posts, so if you’re retrofitting an existing gate, make sure you know what size posts you’re using.

    Carriage Bolts

Carriage Bolts are one of the most common types of bolt used to install fences.

We use (and supply) a range of carriage bolt sizes that are used to install chain link and other fence types. We can also supply color coated bolts on request – to match your vinyl coated fence.

    CCA Treated

CCA or chromated copper arsenate is a type of chemical that is used to treat wood that will be used outside, to prevent rotting and provide a longer lasting fence.

This type of wood preservative has been used since the 1930’s, and is generally considered a safe alternative to creosote, which is no longer allowed in Canada.

    Cedar

Cedar is a type of wood that is used for fencing and post and rail fencing in some cases. It is naturally resistant to rot and insects, and fades from a bright orange colour to grey over time.

    Cedar Fence

Cedar Fence is a type of wood fence. Cedar fence is an alternative to treated wood fence. It’s more expensive than regular treated wood, but offer additional aesthetic appeal, as well as the natural insect resistance that cedar offers.

Because cedar fences are generally more expensive than ordinary treated wood fences, it’s usually used as a design element as much as for privacy and demarcation. In the past, we’ve installed decorative cedar fences on several sites, and design elements often include horizontal fence boards or interesting board spacing that becomes a design feature.

If you want to preserve the color and look of a cedar fence, then it’s recommended that you apply a clear stain or lacquer to the fence after installation.

    Chain Link

Chain Link also known as chain link fabric, diamond mesh or just mesh, is a woven wire mesh that is used around the world to construct chain link fences.

Chain link can be made out of various metals (including aluminum and stainless steel), with various apertures (the opening in the chain link fabric), in various finishes (galvanised or color coated) and from various wire thicknesses.

Generally, Rite-Way Fencing stocks, supplies and installs chain link fabric in various heights, in 9 gauge and 6 gauge wire, in galvanized and black coated. We also stock both knuckle knuckle and knuckle barb.

    Chain Link Fence

Chain link fence is a type of fence that is constructed out of round tubular posts and horizontal rails, with a variety of steel or aluminum fence fittings, that is covered with chain link mesh. It can be galvanized or colour coated.

    Chain link mesh

Chain link mesh is the fabric that is used to create chain link fence - the world's most common type of fencing.

Chain link mesh can be woven to different aperture (opening) sizes, using difference wire gauges or thicknesses. It can also be made out of regular galvanized wire, and PVC coated wire, in a variety of colours.

We manufacture our chain link mesh in house, so we can guarantee the quality of our product, and pass cost savings on to our customers.

    Come-a-Long

A Come-a-Long is a piece of fencing equipment, that consists of two chains with hooks and a ratchet with a handle.

When straining chain link fence, the hooks of the come-a-long are attached to the tension bar, and the ratchet is used to pull the mesh tight before fastening the tension bar to the tension post using tension bands and bolts.

If you’re planning to install your own fence, this is an essential piece of equipment, and yes, we can supply you with one!

    Commercial Weight Pipe

Commercial Weight Pipe is a term that applies to mild steel, galvanized pipe used for fencing, with a wall thickness of either .083 or .125.

It’s a strong, corrosion resistant option for fences that are going to be installed on commercial or residential sites, and is a cheaper alternative than Schedule 40 pipe.

    Composite Board Fence

Composite Board Fence is a type of vinyl fence. Composite boards are a type of plastic composite material that has been processed and moulded to create a board that looks surprisingly much like natural wood, but won’t rot, fade or splinter.

These types of composite board are typically used as decking, but they can also be used as cladding on a steel structure, in place of wooden fence boards, and we have completed projects like this in the past.

If you are looking for a long lasting alternative to wood boards on your steel structure, contact your Rite-Way Fencing representative for pricing and to discuss options.

    Crowd Control Panels

Crowd Control Panels are a special type of temporary fence panels that we supply for events and concerts.

Unlike our regular welded mesh panels, our crowd control panels are 4′ high, and manufactured from a rigid pipe frame with steel bars. They’re supplied with integrated feet in two sections, which makes them easy to set up and take down on site.

D

    Developer Fence

Developer Fence is a term for the most commonly used types of wood fence, Developer fence is a type of wood fence that is usually used around large scale residential developments. It is usually 6′ high, and it’s one of the most common types of fence in Canada.

It is constructed of treated wood (usually spruce), using screws and nails, and usually has either 6 x 6″ or 4 x 6″ wooden posts, usually planted in concrete.

Horizontal rails for developer fence are usually 2 x 6″ treated wood, and fence boards are usually 1 x 6″ treated wood.

Developer fence may be left natural or painted or stained – although painted or stained developer fence will require regular maintenance.

Although developer fence is a common option, we do recommend that developers these days consider vinyl fence, which is currently cheaper to install and much cheaper and easier to maintain!

    Dog runs

Dog runs are portable fence systems, usually made from chain link with a steel tubing frame, that can be assembled quickly using panel clamps.

These panels are available in a variety of heights and widths, with or without gates, and can be combined in endless configurations to achieve the dog run layout you need.

    Dog Runs

Dog Runs are premanufactured free standing fence panels, Rite-Way Fencing custom makes dog run panels, gates and systems to our customer’s specifications.

Common dog run heights include 4′, 5′ and 6′, and panels are typically around 10′ wide –
although they can be combined in various combinations, or made to a custom size to suit your space.

Dog runs, also known as kennel fence, are free standing, not in concrete, and connected using pre formed panel clamps with bolts, which makes them easy to move and reconfigure.

    Dome caps

Dome caps are preformed post caps that are designed to fit over the top of terminal or gate posts. They can be manufactured from pressed steel or cast aluminum, depending on the type of chain link fence you are installing, and they can be powder coated in a range of colours to match your chain link fence.

    Dome Caps

Dome Caps are pressed steel or aluminum chain link fence fittings in plain / galvanized and powder coated finishes.

Dome caps are used on top of posts (usually terminal or tension posts) to prevent water from entering the fence post and then expanding when freezing in winter, or from corroding the inside of the fence posts.

    We supply dome caps in the full range of standard Canadian fence sizes, including 6 5/8″, 4 1/2″, 3 1/2″, 2 7/8″, 2 3/8″, 1 7/8″ and 1 5/8″.

    Double Gate Automation

Double Gate Automation is installing operators on double gates. Many people think that you can only automate a sliding gate. Not true.

It’s entirely possible to automate swing gates, even double swing gates!

The method used to achieve this type of gate automation is to install two separate gate operators, and then to link them to each other, making one the master and one the slave. That way, when you use a remote, fob or keypad to open the gate, the signal goes to a single receiver, and is then relayed to the other.

If you need any type of gate automated, feel free to get in touch. Our gate automation department has a wealth of experience in all types of gate operators.

    Dowelled Posts

Dowelled Posts are machine turned wooden fence posts. Dowelled posts are a type of treated wood post that have been machined to provide a uniform diameter from top to bottom.

These types of wooden posts are usually a little more expensive, and they are usually used for the construction of post and rail or ranch type fence.

    Drop Pin Assemblies

Drop Pin Assemblies are a higher security type of latch, that is most commonly used on commercial and industrial types of chain link gates.

The drop pin assembly consists of a pin with a loop and chain at the top, and a flattened end with a hole for a padlock at the bottom.

Two flat steel plates with pre drilled holes are welded onto one leaf of a double leaf gate, and the chain to the other. Then, when the gate is locked, the pin is dropped through the two pre drilled plates and padlocked.

For added security, we can pre weld a plate to the gate, which restricts access to the drop pin and padlock from outside of the fence line.

E

    Electric fence

Electric fences work by sending an electrical pulse down a conductor (in this case, the fence wires.) Wires are insulated from the fence structure, to ensure that it does not become electrified, and they are installed to create a continuous loop - because electric fences must operate as closed circuits in order to work.

The pulses that electric fences send out have high voltage - so you will feel a shock if you touch them - but very low amperage, which means they are non lethal.

Electric fences can be installed using regular power, or they can be installed with a solar panel and battery backup, to operate anywhere, even where there is no power.

In Canada, electric fences are most often used to control animals, and in many cities and regions, it's illegal to use them for any other purpose.

    Estate Gates

Estate Gates are ornamental gates, if you want an impressive entrance for your home or business, then ornamental estate gates are the most likely product for the job.

Estate gates are decorative ornamental gates which often feature arched tops, spikes and other decorative elements. They’re available in styles to match most ornamental fences, and in swing and cantilever options.

Often, people who choose an ornamental estate gate also choose to automate their gates.

    Eye top

Eye tops, also known as line post tops or loop caps, are a chain link fence fitting that is installed on top of line posts. They have a pre formed cup that fits over the post, and an integrated loop, through which fence top rails are passed, to create a solid and rigid structure for hanging chain link mesh.

F

    Fence Board

A fence board can refer to a wooden board used for wood fence, or to a preformed vinyl fence board made for vinyl fence systems.

    Fence Detection System

Fence Detection Systems, or FDS as they are sometimes known, are ultra sensitive, very high tech cable systems that are installed on various types of fence, and linked to a sophisticated computer based monitoring system.

The cables installed on the fence measure sound and movement at the fence, and notify security personnel monitoring the perimeter of any movement or changes along the fence line, which then allows security staff to investigate a particular area.

FDS systems are usually installed on sites such as prisons, and they are usually divided into zones of a few hundred meters at most, which makes response times for possible security breaches shorter and provides superior protection.

The reason why FDS is used in this sort of application rather than, for instance, a taut wire system, is because FDS are not as susceptible to our Canadian weather issues.

    Fence Gate

Many people refer to gates in fences as a "fence gate." These can be single or man gates, or double or vehicle gates.

Fence gates are made to match the fences they are installed in.

    Fence Panels

Fence panels are premanufactured fence panels that are easy to install.

They can be ornamental fence panels, welded mesh fence panels, temporary fence panels, oil field fence panels or dog run panels, among other types of fence panels.

Although they are easier and quicker to install, if posts are required, they need to be installed with a great deal of precision to fit the panel size, and since they are rigid, it's harder to install them on slopes.

    Fence Permits

Fence Permits requirements in Alberta are determined by the city or municipality in question, but generally speaking, one cannot install a fence higher than 6′ around a backyard, or 4′ around a front yard, without a permit from the city.

If you are considering installing a fence higher than that for any residential or commercial property, it’s best to confirm with the local authorities whether you need any special permits, or whether you need to submit plans or any other documents.

Rite-Way Fencing does not apply for fence permits on behalf of our customers.

    Fence ties

Fence ties are pre bent pieces of wire that are used to attach chain link mesh to top rails and posts. There are two sizes of fence tie available, and they are sold in aluminum and steel, and may be colour coated to match fencing.

    Fence Ties

Fence Ties are preformed wire ties for mesh fences, Fence Ties are preformed sections of steel or aluminum wire, that are used to fasten chain link mesh to line posts and top / mid / bottom rails.
Fence ties come in various shapes and sizes for various applications, and there are some that can be fastened using a special tool attached to an electric drill, while others are tied using standard fencing pliers. Fence ties can also be galvanized or unfinished aluminum or color coated.

If you need fence ties for your project, and you’re not sure which ones will work, ask your Rite-Way Fencing representative.

    Flat Back Hinges

Flat Back Hinges are a hinge component that are used when we need to install a chain link gate on a wood post, wall or another type of flat surface.

These hinges feature a flat plate instead of a post collar, along with an integrated hinge pin that fits into the gate frame hinge collar that we use mostly for residential chain link gates.

These fittings are useful where we are installing a chain link gate in an existing wood fence line, or they can be used when we are installing interior fence and there is a concrete wall or pillar we can bolt the flat back hinge to.

    Floor Flanges / Baseplates

Floor Flanges / Baseplates are any type of plate used to fix fence to surfaces, Floor Flanges, otherwise known as base plates, are used to attach fence systems to existing concrete surfaces.

These flat steel plates are pre drilled for installation using wedge or chemical anchors, depending on the specification requirements.

Our standard range of baseplates are available in 1/4″ and 1/2″ thick, in 4 x 4″, 4 x 6″, 6 x 6″ and 8 x 6″. We can, however, manufacture baseplates in various other thicknesses and sizes, to suit nearly any application.

Baseplates can be welded to the bottom of a post for flush installation, or to the side of posts for installation on a retaining wall. We can also supply and install separate baseplates that are bolted to posts, as well as angle baseplates for installation on a concrete edge.
Contact your Rite-Way Fencing representative for any custom base plate or base plated post requirements.

    Fork Latch

Fork Latch is a latch for chain link fence, a fork latch is a type of gate latch that is usually used on residential fence, and usually on single swing gates (although they could be used in other applications too!)

Fork latches have a preformed bracket on one side that is bolted to the gate frame with a carriage bolt, and a larger pre-formed latch which can be lifted up to allow the gate to open, or dropped around the gate closing post to keep the gate in place.

Most fork latches also have a pre drilled hole through both brackets to allow for locking with a padlock if extra security is required.

    Fork Latch Assembly

A Fork Latch Assembly is a residential gate component that is used to latch gates. These fittings are usually used for single swing gates that are latching onto a steel post.

Fork latch assemblies consist of a pre formed bracket to bolt the hinge assembly to a gate frame, with a hinged latch section that moves up and down, allowing the latch to be opened and closed.

Fork latches have precision drilled holes through the hinged and fixed portions that allow for locking using a padlock.

G

    Game Fence

Game Fence is a group of fences designed to control wild animals, Game Fence, also sometimes known as page wire, is a type of fence designed to keep large wildlife out of a particular area.

The term game fence is actually misleading, because it suggests that this is a single type of fence – which is not true.

There are specific types of game fence designed for deer, elk, bison and other animals, as well as electric game fence options.

If you contact us for game fence pricing, then it’s a good idea to have an idea of which type of wildlife you’re dealing with!

    Garden Fence

Garden fence is a tricky term to define. It can be any fence that is installed around a backyard, or it could refer specifically to a fence that is installed around a vegetable or flower garden.

In that context, garden fences may be used to keep animals away from plants that are growing.

    Gate Frame Hinges

Gate Frame Hinges are one half of a typical residential gate hinge. They consist of a pre formed bracket that is bolted to the gate frame, with an integrated loop that fits onto the pin of the gate post hinge (the other part of the typical residential gate hinge.)

    Gate Hardware

Gate Hardware are fittings that are used in constructing gates.

Gate hardware is a term that applies to a variety of fittings that are installed on most gates – including hinges, latches, drop pins, v catches, drop bolts and other accessories.

When we quote any gate for supply and installation, we will usually include the standard gate hardware required for that particular type of gate, unless otherwise requested by the client.

    Gate Post Collars

Gate Post Collars are one of the components of the typical industrial gate hinge that we use on our heavier duty chain link gates.

These collars are pre-formed, and are bolted or fixed to gate posts, and used with lag bolt hinges and pre welded lug nuts to create adjustable, heavy duty gate hinges that can handle the heavier, larger gates we install on commercial and industrial projects.

    Gate Post Hinges

Gate Post Hinges are one half of the typical residential gate hinge. This half of the hinge consists of a pre-formed bracket that can be bolted to the gate frame, and a pin that fits into the loop on a gate frame hinge.

    Gate Wheels

Gate Wheels, sometimes, particularly on larger or heavier gates, we need to include a gate wheel in the design and installation of the gate.

Rite-Way Fencing stocks a wide range of gate wheels, including swivel wheels, double wheel carriers, pneumatic wheels and solid wheels.

Gate wheels come in various diameters, to fit various gate frames, and we can help you to select the right fit for your gate.

    Grounding

Grounding is the process whereby metal fences (like industrial chain link fence) are connected to an underground grounding system – either in the form of a site wide grounding mat (usually on substation or industrial sites) or by simple grounding rods (for simpler electric fence systems.)

Rite-Way Fencing does not offer grounding on substation or industrial fences, as the specifications and requirements for this type of safety oriented fence grounding are best left to professionals, but we do ground all of our electric fence systems.

H

    High Tensile Wire

High Tensile Wire is a type of steel fence wire, High Tensile Wire is a term that describes, literally, the amount of tensile force a wire can take before it will snap.

In the fencing business, high tensile wire is used in a number of applications, including electric fence wires, and in the manufacture of game and farm fences.

It is not, generally, used to manufacture products like chain link fence.

If you’re not sure if you need or are ordering high tensile wire, be sure to ask your Rite-Way Fencing representative.

    Hinge Joint Farm Fence

Hinge Joint Farm Fence is one of the many types of farm fence that we supply and install.

This is a type of agricultural mesh that is manufactured from galvanized wire that is wrapped to create hinged joints, which makes this type of farm fence a little more flexible than game fence or fixed knot fence.

Hinged joint fence is available in various heights to suit most applications, in either 330′ or 660′ rolls.

    Hog Ring Pliers

Hog Ring Pliers are a special type of fencing pliers that have an indentation in them that perfectly fits a hog ring. When the pliers are squeezed around the hog ring, it is perfectly tightened, which makes these pliers quicker and easier to use than standard fencing pliers.

    Hog rings

Hog rings are pre bent pieces of wire that can be aluminum or steel. They are used to attach chain link fabric to bottom wires of chain link fences, and are clipped in place using hog ring pliers.

In most cases, you will need one hog ring per foot to 18" of fence that you install.

    Horizontal Fence

The term "horizontal fence" refers to modern fence designs where the fence boards are installed horizontally instead of the more traditional vertical installation.

Most people think of wood fence when they are thinking of horizontal fence, but we can (and have) done these types of fence in vinyl too, for a zero maintnenace, modern, horizontal fence.

I

    Interior Fence

Interior Fence is fence that is installed inside a building. Interior fence is sometimes called partition fence or bond store fence (depending on the application and the specification of the fence.)
Basically, however, interior fence is any fence that is installed inside a building rather than outside.

We can supply and install a wide range of interior fences to meet your specifications and needs, in a wide range of heights. We’ve even installed 16′ fences for military installations in the past!

Interior fences are also useful to provide secure storage areas, for safety reasons on mezzanines or around manufacturing shops, and for a variety of other applications.
Contact your Rite-Way Fencing with your interior fence wish list, and we’ll work on a design and specification that works for you.

J

    J Bolts

J Bolts are a type of gate hinge component. J bolts, also known as lag bolts, are heavy duty bolts that are shaped like a J, and come in a variety of lengths and diameters, with two hex nuts. These bolts are used to create heavy duty industrial gate hinges that are adjustable and more secure than typical residential fence hinges.

K

    Knuckle Knuckle / Knuckle Barb

Knuckle Knuckle / Knuckle Barb describes the selvage of chain link fence. Knuckle Knuckle and Knuckle Barb, or KK and KB as they are known in the fence industry, are terms that describe the selvage of chain link fabric – or more simply, the top and bottom edges of the fabric.

Knuckle Knuckle fabric is generally used for residential fence, or fences where the public is likely to have free access. It’s top and bottom edges have wires that are bent over towards the mesh – or knuckled – which creates a save, no snag edge.

Knuckle Barb is chain link fabric where the wires along the top edge are twisted to create a ‘barb’, which offers additional security by making it harder to climb over the top of the fence. It’s generally only used on commercial or industrial sites where security is a requirement.

L

    Lattice Fence

Lattice fences are a classic "diamond" patterned type of fence that are usually used in residential fence settings.

They are traditionally made of wood, but vinyl lattice panels are becoming a lot more popular.

Lattice can be used as a standalone fence, but they are often used on top of other types of fence, like privacy fence.

    Line Post Tops

Line Post Tops are fittings for chain link fence, Line Post Tops also known as eye tops and loop caps are fence fittings that are installed on the top of line posts for chain link fences. Line post tops consist of a cup (sized to fit the line post diameter) and a ‘loop’ which is sized to allow the top rail to pass through. They are manufactured from galvanized pressed steel.

Line post tops help to create an integrated fence structure, by connecting the top rail to the line post at each post, which ensures a stronger fence.

M

    Mesh Panel Fences

Mesh Panel Fences is a higher security fence type, Mesh Panel Fences as the name suggests, are a type of fence that is constructed from posts and mesh panels, along with various fittings.

They offer more security than chain link fence, while still being aesthetically pleasing. They can be tricky to install on sloped ground or where there are lots of corners, however, so it’s best to take that into consideration when specifying your fence.

Rite-Way Fencing supplies and installs a range of mesh panel fences, including Moreda Hercules, Omega fence and ClearVu panel systems.

    Metal Fence

Metal fence is a very broad term that could refer to many different types of fencing.

There are both steel and aluminum examples of metal fence. There are also different styles, including ornamental fence, palisade fence, chain link fence and welded mesh fence.

N

    Noise Attenuation Fence

Noise Attenuation Fence is a special type of wood fence, Noise Attenuation Fence is the name of a special type of (usually wood) fence that is typically higher than usual (typically 8′ or 2.4m) and often constructed with a double layer of fence boards on either side of the horizontal rails, to help block out noise from traffic or other sources.

If you’re looking for an alternative to wooden noise attenuation fence that is as effective and much lower maintenance, we would usually recommend our PVC rockwall fence.

    Nominal Bore

Nominal Bore describes the wall thickness of pipe, Nominal Bore is a term used to describe the inside diameter of metal pipes, from one inside surface to the opposite inside surface.

Nominal bore is often used in mechanical specifications and in some US and other foreign fence specifications, but it is NOT the standard unit of measuring pipe diameter in Canadian fence.

O

    Omega Fence

Omega Fence is a type of wire mesh panel fence, Omega Fence is a brand name that applies to a particular brand of wire mesh panel fence that is used fairly often in Canada.

Pre welded panels in various designs and specifications are fixed to steel posts either laterally or on the face of the post, creating a nice looking and more secure type of fence.
Some of the Omega Fence systems we have installed in the past include Architectural, Elite and Secur, and we also supply and install a wide variety of other mesh panel fences on request.

    Ornamental Fence

Ornamental Fence is a type of steel bar fence, Ornamental Fence also known as wrought iron fence or bar fence, is a type of steel bar fence that is manufactured in pre made panels, posts and fittings.

This type of fence looks great and offers great security, because it’s hard to climb.
Rite-Way Fencing offers ornamental fence in a variety of configurations and styles. We also offer a full range of ornamental gates to match.

    Outside Diameter

Outside Diameter is a term that describes pipe diameter, Outside Diameter is a term that refers to the diameter of steel or other metal pipe, measured from the outside surface of the pipe to the opposite outside surface.

This is the standard method of measuring pipe sizes in Canadian fencing, and all fence fittings are manufactured to fit outside diameters.

P

    Panel Clamps

Panel Clamps are used to assemble dog runs or ‘kennel fences.’

They consist of two preformed pieces of steel with a hole through the center for bolting in place. When the two halves are placed against each other, and viewed on the edge, the panel clamp resembles a figure eight.

Panel clamps are available in various sizes, and can be used for applications other than dog runs.

    Panic Gates

Panic Gates are high security man gates, Panic Gates also known as emergency egress gates are strong, double frame gates that are used on industrial sites, substations and other high security installations, to allow people inside the secure area to exit in an emergency, but to limit access from the outside of the area.

Our panic gates are custom made to specification, but they usually include a preformed galvanized steel ‘shroud’ to prevent access to the panic hardware from the outside, the panic hardware itself, and a heavy duty welded double frame.

Panic gates can be supplied with keyed entry from the outside, or with other features like auto closers, all built to your specifications.

    Peeled Posts

Peeled Posts are wood posts for farm and game fences, Peeled posts, also known as tapered posts, are treated wooden fence posts that are used in the construction of barbed wire farm fence and various types of page wire farm fence.

Peeled posts are available in a range of lengths, and are usually measured by length in feet by diameter range. For instance, a common size would be a 5-6″ diameter, 7′ long post.
Peeled posts are usually sharpened to a point to allow easier installation, but since we do use a heavy duty post pounder to install our wood fence, we can install even blunt posts in most types of soil.

    Picket Fence

A picket fence is a classic type of fence that is usually low, and often installed around front yards, particularly of suburban homes.

Picket fences used to be made almost exclusively of wood, but these days, they are often made from zero maintenance materials like vinyl fence.

    Picket Fences

Picket Fences are typically low fences (4′ high or lower), with vertical pickets spaced about 4″ apart, and openings between them.

Picket fences used to be made of wood, but the maintenance and upkeep of wooden picket fences is high, so these days, most homeowners and developers opt for maintenance free vinyl picket fence.

We offer a variety of picket fence options to suit most requirements, and can provide pricing based on your specifications and requirements.

    Post and Cable

Post and Cable is a type of fence that incorporates steel cables, Post and Cable also known as cable rail, is a type of fence that combines wood posts with either galvanized or stainless steel cable with specialist fittings.

This type of fence does not offer any security value, however it can be used to demarcate areas like parking lots, or in a variety of other applications.

    Post Pounder

Post Pounder is a piece of equipment that is generally used to pound posts for agricultural and other fence types into ordinary soil.

Post pounders can be simple, manual pieces of equipment, or high tech hydraulic machinery.
Rite-Way Fencing uses and sells hand held gas powered versions of post pounder, called Redi Driver.

    Powder coating

Powder coating is a process whereby a colour powder is adhered to the surface of steel or other metal (in the case of fencing, usually steel or aluminum), and then baked onto the surface in a large commercial oven. This process creates a vibrant colour and a smooth finish, and when done correctly, can increate the lifespan and durability of your fence.

    Privacy Fence

A privacy fence is any fence that is not see through.

This can include wood fence, vinyl fence and chain link fence with privacy slats, among other types of fence.

Privacy fence is popular around back yards and private residences.

    Privacy Slats

Privacy Slats are fence inserts for chain link fence, Privacy Slats are preformed plastic strips that fit into the apertures of chain link mesh fabric.

There are several types of privacy slats, but the ones that Rite-Way Fencing most commonly uses are called ‘bottom lock.’

Bottom lock slats fit into a pre formed plastic bottom strip that is passed through the bottom of the chain link fabric, and help to ensure that the slats stay in place.
We usually have black and white slats in stock, but they are available other colors on request.

    PVC

PVC is a special type of plastic used for fencing, PVC is the abbreviation for Polyvinyl Chloride, which is a type of plastic that is used in a few fence products, including coated chain link mesh and wire, vinyl fence and slats.

There are many different types of PVC out there though, and the fence business uses some pretty specific UV stabilized, fade resistant types in most cases.

Q

    Quick Set

Quick Set is a type of pre mixed concrete, Quick set concrete, also known as Kwik Rock, is a premixed type of concrete that we sometimes use for fence installation where quick setting concrete is needed, or where lack of access to concrete trucks and equipment makes using ready mixed concrete impossible.

R

    Rail Ends

Rail Ends are fittings for chain link fence, Rail ends are cup shaped fittings with a loop that fit over the ends of top rails, braces and other horizontal fence components, and allow them to be bolted into place, usually onto brace bands.

Rail ends are available in galvanized and aluminum, to fit a range of pipe sizes, and they are also available in galvanized / silver and black coated.

    Raking

Raking is a method of installing ornamental fence, Raking is a term that applies mostly to ornamental fence, when it is installed on a slope or gradient.

When a fence panel is ‘raked’ it is physically angled to match the slope of the ground, which helps to prevent large gaps under the fence, and creates a nice smooth, clean, aesthetically pleasing top line of the fence.

Ornamental fence panels can only be raked to a certain degree, so if you are installing ornamental fence on a sloped site, or you’d like to be sure you can install an ornamental fence, it’s always best to have an Rite-Way Fencing representative visit your site and assess the gradient.

    Ranch Rail

Ranch Rail is a classic three rail fence, Ranch Rail is the type of classic three rail farm fence that you often see on horse farms or similar.

Ranch rail, or post and rail, can be wood or vinyl, and can be installed in two or three rail variants, depending on the height and application of the fence.

Although we have installed wooden ranch rail in the past, these days we recommend the vinyl variant to anyone who is looking for a ranch rail fence that will look good for years to come.

That’s because vinyl ranch rail is maintenance free!

If you’re looking for ranch rail or post and rail fence for an acreage or anywhere else, contact your Rite-Way Fencing representative to discuss your options.

    Razor Coils

Razor Coils are ultra high security pre manufactured coils, Razor Coils are pre formed coils of wire ‘core’ with a pre cut strip of razor tape welded around that core. Razor coils are available in a variety of sizes, including 12″ and 18″, and are manufactured from both galvanized and stainless steel components, or a combination of both.

Generally, razor coils can have a ‘stretch’ of up to 50′, but in some cases, like prison fences, they can only be stretched to 30′, so be sure to mention what your required specification is when you request a quote!

Razor coils are used on very high security installations like prisons, and are not legal for use in most applications in Canada. If you are considering using razor coils for your fence, be sure to check whether this is a legal application before you start the installation.

    Rolling Track Gates

Rolling Track Gates are a type of sliding gate, Rolling Track Gates are an alternative to cantilever gates, that use horizontal rails installed on the fence adjacent to the gate on either side, along with fittings known as Safe-T-Track and Safe-T-Line brackets instead of traditional cantilever rollers.

The benefit of this type of gate is that it takes up less space, since it only needs to be one foot wider than the gate opening to work – whereas cantilever gates need to be over one and a half times as wide as the opening size.

The downside to this gate is that during winter, ice and snow can build up on the horizontal tracks, and will need to be removed in order to ensure uninterrupted operation.

If you’re looking for a sliding gate, ask your Rite-Way Fencing to provide you with the best option for your needs.

S

    Safety Top Cap

Safety Top Cap is a pre formed, pre cut plastic top (usually yellow) that is used as a safety feature on sports fences, like ball diamond fencing.

Because these types of chain link fence will be exposed and within reach of sports teams using the field or facility, there’s a risk that they might injure themselves on exposed wires at the top of the fence – even if the fence is a knuckle knuckle type.

To prevent these kinds of accidents, most sports field fences will call for the installation of safety top caps, and installing them is super easy. Slip the preformed cap over the top rail of the fence, hog ring in place, and you’re done!

    Schedule 40

Schedule 40 is a type of steel pipe, Schedule 40 pipe, also known in the fence business as ‘Sched’ is a type of pipe that’s usually used in pressurized situations – like water transport or similar.
This type of pipe is made differently to ordinary commercial weight galvanized pipe, and has a thicker wall, which makes it a stronger type of pipe to use for fence structures.

Because it’s stronger and heavier though, Schedule 40 pipe can also increase the cost of your fence, so if you’re not sure you need this, be sure to ask your Rite-Way Fencing representative for more information.

    Screw Piles

Screw Piles are sometimes used to install fences where ground conditions are not conducive to using standard concrete footings.

There are no ‘standard’ screw piles for fence installation, and these usually need to be custom manufactured to our customer’s specifications. Because these are usually custom items, they’re usually more expensive than a standard concrete footing would be.

Once installed, fences are base-plated or welded to the top of the screw pile and installed as we would any other chain link fence.

    Semi Permanent Fence

Semi Permanent Fence is a type of fence that is designed to eventually be taken down, but is more permanent than the freestanding temporary fence panels that we supply.

This type of fence is often chain link, with pounded metal posts, but without a top rail. Instead, horizontal straining wires are used to create the structure for the fence fabric to be fixed to.

We can provide pricing for supply, installation and removal of semi permanent fence systems on request.

    Silt Fence

Silt Fence is a fence used during earthworks and landscaping, Silt Fence is a ready made type of ‘fence’ that consists of woven fabric with attached wooden stakes.

This fence is installed where earthworks are going to be carried out, to prevent the flow of silt (sand and water) down slopes.

Silt fence is sold in rolls, and is very easy to install by unrolling and knocking the stakes into the ground.

Rite-Way Fencing can supply only or supply and install your silt fence as a part of a larger fence project.

    Sleeves

Sleeves are pre formed pieces of galvanized pipe that are about 6″ long, with an inside diameter that fits 1 5/8″ top rail. They are used to join 21′ or 24′ lengths of top rail on commercial and industrial fence projects.

Generally, sleeves are not used on residential fences, where we would usually use a ‘swedge’ end pipe.

    Snow Fence

Snow Fence is a temporary fence used to demarcate areas, Snow Fence is a type of bright orange plastic ‘net’ that is usually installed on t posts that are knocked into the ground.

As the name suggests, snow fence is often used to control snow, but is also used to demarcate hazards, as a temporary barrier on construction sites and for other purposes.

Rite-Way Fencing can supply and install snow fence on request.

    Spruce

Spruce is a type of wood that is commonly used to construct wood fence. In most cases, when spruce is used for fencing and other outdoor applications, it is treated to prevent rot and protect it from insects.

Even with this chemical protection, many people choose to stain their spruce wood fences, to preserve it, protect it, and to enhance it's asthetic appeal.

    Stepping

Stepping – is a method of installing panel fences – Stepping is a method of installing rigid types of fence (such as mesh wire panels or ornamental fence) on sloped ground.

This method of installation often requires the installation of longer posts, closer together. This can increase the cost of fence installation, so if you are installing a fence on a slope, it’s often best to have an Rite-Way Fencing representative visit the site to assess the slope and provide advice.

    Swedge End

Swedge End refers to a type of top rail that we use on mostly residential fence projects. The pipe is pre cut to approximately 10′ lengths (which allows to install one per section of fence), and has one end tapered to fit inside the end of the next. This helps to create a neat and seamless look, while still ensuring that the structural integrity of your residential fence is maintained.

We do not recommend using swedge end pipe on heavy or high security chain link fence systems.

T

    T Post

T Posts are a type of preformed metal fence post that are often used to construct semi permanent or farm fences.

T posts can be ridged or smooth, but both are named for the distinctive T shape of the profile when looked at from the end of the post.

We supply and install T posts in a variety of heights, for a variety of applications, so if you need one (or a bundle), contact your Rite-Way Fencing representative.

    Temporary fence

Temporary fences, also known as temp fence, construction fence and ready fence panels, are pre manufactured fence panels that are installed with feet and clips along the boundary of construction sites, event areas and similar applications.

Temporary fence systems are usually rented, so the customer only pays for the time the fence is on their site, rather than investing in a permanent fence system.

    Temporary Fence

Temporary Fence, also known as temp fence, crowd control or construction fence, is the name for a range of fences that are not designed to remain in one place, and that can be easily set up and taken down.

Rite-Way Fencing has hundreds of thousands of feet of temporary fence that we install for customers throughout Western Canada, and we offer temporary fence rentals (non climb welded panels) and temporary fence sales (chain link mesh panels).

If you are interested in something a little more permanent than our temporary fence panels, please see semi permanent fence.

    Temporary Fence Panels

Temporary Fence Panels are mesh panels that are used on construction sites, at events and in other applications where it’s necessary to temporarily prevent access to a particular area.
They are lightweight but rigid, and are covered with non climb mesh.

Our temporary fence panels are made of galvanized steel, and are installed using steel foot pieces and u clips. They are available for rental only, but we can make similar panel out of chain link mesh.

    Tennis Court Fence

Tennis Court Fences can be various types of fence, including chain link fence and mesh panel fences, depending on the customer’s specifications.

Generally, they follow standard guidelines with regards to height and layout, based on the standard sizes of tennis courts themselves. Often, that includes a higher perimeter fence to help catch tennis balls, particularly where courts are near to residential homes.

Rite-Way Fencing supplies and installs a variety of tennis court fence options, and we can supply tennis court net posts on request.

    Tension bands

Tension bands are used at terminal and gate posts to attach tension bands to posts. They are fixed in place using carriage bolts, and hold the tension bar, and the mesh it is attached to, securely in place.

    Tension Bands

Tension Bands are chain link fence fittings, Tension Bands are preformed steel fence fittings that fit around tension posts, hold tension bars in place, and can be securely bolted. They are used to maintain the tension of chain link fabric, and come in a variety of sizes.

We also use tension bands to fix mesh to chain link gates.

Typically, there is one tension band less than the height in feet of a fence per post per direction of strain. So, for instance, a 6′ high fence end post would have 5 tension bands, a 5′ high end post would have 4, while a 6′ high corner post would have 10, and a 5′ high corner post would have 8, and so on.

    Tension bars

Tension bars are long, flat pieces of steel that are passed through the end of chain link fence to attach it to tension and gate posts. They come in a variety of sizes,

    Tension Bars

Tension Bars are chain link fence components, Tension bars are narrow, flat steel bars that are threaded through the end of chain link fencing to maintain tension on the mesh. They’re fastened in place using tension bands, which are bolted in place.

Rite-Way Fencing stocks tension bars in galvanized and black coated, in commercial and industrial weights.

    Thrie Beam Guardrail

Thrie Beam Guardrail is a specific type of guardrail that is approved for installation on Alberta Highways.

    Vinyl Fence Routing

Vinyl Fence Routing is a computerized cutting system for vinyl fence, routing is the term that is used when referring to cutting out holes on vinyl fence components to fit them together.

Rite-Way Fencing’s supplier uses a top of the line electronically controlled router to cut holes in the exact right position every time.

We generally rout holes in posts for top rail installation, or in 2 x 3.5″ sections for picket fencing.

    Vinyl Pocket Rail

Vinyl Pocket Rail is a vinyl fence structural component, Vinyl Pocket Rail is the name for the standard 5.5″ wide horizontal rails that are used to construct vinyl fences.

This type of horizontal rail has a ‘pocket’ along one edge, which houses the top and bottom of privacy panels when the fence is installed.

Pocket rail is available in all of the same colors as our vinyl fence, but can be switched with a complementary color when constructing a two tone fence.

    Vinyl Post Caps

Vinyl Post Caps are vinyl fence components, Vinyl Post Caps are preformed vinyl caps that fit over or inside the top of vinyl fence posts.

These types of posts are available in a variety of styles, with Cape May and pyramid being the two most popular at the moment.

Post caps help to keep water from entering your vinyl fence posts and freezing during winter, and they offer a nice aesthetic way to top off vinyl fence posts.

    Vinyl Privacy Fence

Vinyl Privacy Fence is a style of vinyl fence, Vinyl Privacy Fence is a maintenance free, long lasting alternative to wooden privacy fence.

This type of fence is constructed from several standard components: top and bottom rails, T&G boards, square vinyl posts, post caps, u channels and sometimes steel stiffeners.

When we install our vinyl privacy fence, we mark out the fence line to position posts at a maximum of 7′ center to center, then we pound an 8′ long 1 7/8″ steel post 4′ into the ground, and use adjustable collars to ensure that the vinyl post (which acts as a sleeve) is plumb.

Top and bottom horizontals are installed in pre routed slots in the post, and T&G boards are slid into these rails, with U channels and stiffeners as necessary.

We supply vinyl privacy fence in a variety of colors, which can be combined in many different ways, and we also manufacture custom vinyl swing gates.

    Voltage

Voltage, electric fence systems all deliver a fixed or pulsed voltage, which creates the shock when you touch the fence wires.

What many people don’t realize, however, is that while fence energizers deliver high voltage, they deliver very low amps, which means that most modern electric fences are non lethal to humans and animals.

W

    W Beam Guardrail

W Beam Guardrail is a type of highway approved guardrail, W Beam Guardrail is one of a handful of types of guardrail that are approved by Alberta Transportation for installation along roads and highways.

This type of guardrail consists of either wooden or steel posts (usually wooden) with pre formed W beam sections bolted to each post and to adjacent pieces.

In addition to steel and wood post options, there are also standard and heavy specifications for W beam guardrail, and the guardrail can also be curved to follow radiused sections of the fence line.

    Wedge Anchors

Wedge Anchors is a type of bolt used to fix fences to concrete surfaces, Wedge Anchors are a type of expanding bolt used to install fences that are bolted to concrete surfaces.

They are available in various lengths and diameters, for various applications, and as they are tightened, they expand into the hole in the concrete, creating a strong, mechanical hold for base plated posts.

    Wire

Wire is used in many ways when installing chain link and other fence types.

Most residential, commercial and industrial chain link fence will use a bottom wire to secure chain link fabric at ground level. Some may call for diagonal wire bracing at corners, while semi permanent fences may require a top wire in lieu of a top pipe rail.

We stock wire in 9 and 6 gauge, in galvanized and PVC coated finishes, and we can sell quantities to meet your requirements.

    Wire Fence

Wire fence can refer to a lot of different types of fence.

These may include chain link fence, welded mesh fence, barbed wire or even farm fence products and systems.

Any fence product that is made from or with wire could be called a wire fence.

    Wire Gauge

Wire Gauge is the thickness of fence wire. Wire gauge, in the fencing world, refers to the diameter of a piece of wire – in other words, the wire gauge tells you how thick the wire is.

Generally, chain link fabric is available in 11 gauge (not recommended, because it’s very weak), 9 gauge and 6 gauge, with 6 gauge being the thickest and 11 gauge the thinnest.

In game fence and farm fence, where high tensile wire is used instead of regular steel wire, common wire gauges include 12.5 gauge and 14 gauge, among others.

Remember, when requesting a quote, that the lower the wire gauge, the thicker and heavier the wire will be, and that will affect the cost.

    Wood fence

Wood fence is a popular type of privacy fence in Canada. It is usually constructed on site, from raw lumber, and can be installed a full privacy fence, or privacy fence with decorative accents like lattice.
